Passport Project to host group of Women Leaders from Korea

May 2, 2008 – 4:35 pm

Passport Project is thrilled to announce that we have been selected to host a group of Women Leaders from Korea on Tuesday, May 6th from 2:00 - 3:30pm. This project consists of six visitors (accompanied by two State Department Interpreters) who are invited to the U.S. under the auspices of the State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (http://exchanges.state.gov/education/ivp/overview.htm), and will spend three weeks traveling around to different U.S. cities, Cleveland being one of them. They will only be in our city on May 5th and May 6th (Monday and Tuesday). Each woman represents a different profession- so during their Cleveland stay they are linked to guest in their professional counterpart- three of the women are actually very interested in cultural organizations that promote world and community awareness.

The Department of State has outlined the following specific objectives for the project.
  • Improve their understanding of U.S. foreign policy priorities, goals, and issues
  • Establish networks with U.S. counterparts
  • Better understand the role of the non-profit sector in U.S. society and the ways U.S. NGOs maintain independence from the government and promote democracy and civic involvement
  • Experience American culture and society.

We invite all to come out to Passport project on Tuesday, May 6th from 2:00 - 3:30pm to take part in an open panel discussion with our distingushed guest to learn more about organizations within politics, environmental issues, positive social change, cultural activities and media.
